Bread doesn’t make you fat.
An informed opinion.
Whole wheat sourdough can actually contribute to weight loss [1]. During the holiday season, diets are being broken all across the country. I am here to share the good news that whole wheat sourdough is good for your gut.
“Consumption of sourdough bread allows better food digestion, promotes better nutritional uptake of minerals and vitamins and also improves gut health” [2]
Whole wheat flour (versus refined all-purpose flour) still contains the bran and the germ which are soluble and insoluble fibers and contain most of the minerals and nutrients of the wheat plant. Not to mention, this is where all the flavor of the bread comes from.
Additionally, the fermentation process breaks down glucose, fructose and sucrose and converts these carbohydrates into ethanol so, you can feel good about eating that extra slice of sourdough.
To honor the health benefits of bran and germ I offer my 100% Honey Whole Wheat.
Made with 100% organic whole wheat flour you get all the nutrition of soluble fiber, vitamins and minerals contained within the bran and germ. This is the heartiest and tastiest bread you will ever eat. The addition of local honey adds a touch of sweetness to this pan loaf that keeps the crumb supple and perfect for hugging your turkey and cheese sandwich. Try it toasted, or not. The shape also adds for easy slicing.
Ingredients: 100% organic whole wheat flour, water, sourdough starter (organic whole wheat flour, water), honey, salt, sesame seeds.
If you have a different opinion, I’d love to hear it!
